Qatar is one of the most important sources of helium globally, with the production capacity of roughly 30 % of the world’s total available helium.
The Qatari embargo and the immediate closing of the land and sea borders between Qatar and its neighbours have significantly affected our ability to distribute helium from the Qatar helium source. While AGA and The Linde Group are working hard to develop alternative routes to circumvent the local economic blockade, our logistics costs have increased significantly.
As a result, we will apply a Logistics Surcharge of € 1.5/m³ for as long as the embargo on the State of Qatar is in place. The surcharge will apply to helium purchases beginning on 7 July and will be lifted 4 weeks after the embargo has been completely lifted.
Invoicing will be done once for the total period after the embargo has been lifted.
